Blue Cross of India is an animal welfare charity in Chennai, India. This organization offer support to stray animals and pet owners who cannot afford veterinary treatment, find homes for unwanted animals, fights against animal cruelty and create awareness among public in animal adaptation, ownership, etc.
Blue Cross of India was established by Captain V. Sundaram in 1959. This animal welfare society was registered under the Societies Registration Act in 1964. Now, Blue Cross of India is country’s largest animal welfare organizations and its run several animal welfare events like pet adaptation, water bowl program and animal right awareness.
Blue Cross of India has received several international and national awards. After thirty years of its establishment, it received donation of RS 25,00,000 and 4 acres of land. The non-medical division is powered by volunteers.
History:
Initially, Blue Cross of India is started as a small organization and now it has grown into India’s largest animal welfare organization, running pet adaptation campaigns, humane educational and animal rights progammes.
BCI is affiliated with WSPA and PSPCA. This organization is entirely looked after by volunteers to make sure the money received by society is used only for animal welfare activities. BCI has registered office in Chennai. The main office is located at Guindy, with all amenities like hospitals, shelters, ambulance services and animal birth controls, etc.
